Our Weekday Ministries

Bible Study - New Time! Thursdays at 6:30 pm in the second floor Women'sParlor. Current study guide is "Invitation to the New Testament" by David deSilva and Emerson Powery.

Food for Life - Our Tuesday free hot meal. Volunteers serve 60 to 100 people including children a hot lunch at 1:00 pm. Special holiday lunches are served the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Community Food Pantry - On Thursdays from 10:00 am to noon 100 to 125 bags of food are available to community residents.

Community Gardens - Garden plots are available to community residents in God's Little Acre across Kimbark Avenue from the Church and in the Community Garden at 65th and Woodlawn Avenue. The Angelic Organics Learning Center located in the Church House advises our urban farmers.

CAPS - First Church hosts the monthly community-police meetings. Meets in John Knox Hall the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm

Woodlawn Collaborative - The Woodlawn Collaborative, located at First Presbyterian, is a shared space for Woodlawn residents and University of Chicago students to collaborate on, and explore connections between art projects, education initiatives, and progressive political activitism. http://www.woodlawncollaborative.org

Angelic Organics Learning Center - First Presbyterian hosts the Woodlawn site of Angelic Organics Learning Center which has worked since 1998 to connect urban residents with local farms and to increase their access to fresh, healthy food. At First Presbyterian the Learning Center maintains a demonstration garden and apiary and conducts workshops and classes on urban farming topics. http://www.csalearningcenter.org
