Our Weekday Ministries
Food for Life - Our Tuesday free hot meal. Volunteers serve 60 to 100 people including children a hot lunch at 1:00 pm. Special holiday lunches are served the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Community Food Pantry - On Thursdays from 10:00 am to noon 100 to 125 bags of food are available to community residents.
Community Gardens - Garden plots are available to community residents in God's Little Acre across Kimbark Avenue from the Church and in the Community Garden at 65th and Woodlawn Avenue. The Angelic Organics Learning Center located in the Church House advises our urban farmers.
CAPS - First Church hosts the monthly community-police meetings. Meets in John Knox Hall the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm
Woodlawn Collaborative - This October First Presbyterian entered into a partnership with the Woodlawn Collaborative (a joint venture of University of Chicago students and Woodlawn community groups) to provide office and meeting space for the joint programs. M.A.G.I.C. is setting up space in the third floor classroom. More information will be posted here as details are available.
